Our Curriculum

The UTC curriculum is designed to ensure that our students are equipped with the knowledge and skills that will make them ready for the world of work. Alongside technical qualifications and traditional subjects, our students experience industry-led, real world projects with our industry partners. 

The Key Stage 4 Programme

Study a wide range of subjects while gaining valuable workplace experience. 

Aspire, achieve and advance

Students will follow the programme outlined below, leaving Key Stage 4 with a fantastic set of GCSE results, a unique CV and the professional skills to succeed at Key Stage 5 and beyond. 

 

Core Curriculum

Students will study for qualifications in all of the following subjects:

  • GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature 
  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE Science
    • Combined Science Trilogy or
    • Triple Science with Biology, Chemisty and Physics

Specialist Technical Curriculum

Students will choose one pathway to specialise in. Whithin that pathway, they will recieve a bespoke Careers programme and take part in industry-led Projects whilst working towards their qualification.

  • Health
    • GCSE Psychology or 
    • Level 2 Sports Science
  • Digital
    • GCSE Computer Science or 
    • Level 2 Vocational ICT

 

Options Curriculum

Students at the UTC will also study one of the following subjects to complement their Core and Specialist Curriculum.

  • GCSE Business
  • GCSE Art 
  • GCSE Geography
  • GCSE History

 

Personal Development Curriculum

In addition to the Core, Specialist Technical and Options curriculum, students at the UTC benefit from a wider range if subjects and experiences through:

  • Faiths and Cultures

The Key Stage 5 Programme

Flexibility is at the heart of our approach to the Sixth Form curriculum. You will choose 3 or 4 A-level corses, and we will ensure that your individual interests and capabilities are taken into account as we agree with you which courses you follow.
